Hyundai i30 (PD) 2018-2024 Service Manual / Clutch System / Ignition Lock Switch / Repair procedures

Removal
[Manual Transaxle Type]
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2.
Remove the clutch pedal.
(Refer to Clutch System - "Cluch Pedal")
3.
Remove the ignition lock & clutch switch (A) after loosening the bolts (B).

[Intelligent Manual Transaxle Type]
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2.
Disconnect the ignition lock & clutch switch connector (A).

3.
Remove the ignition lock & clutch switch (A) after loosening the screw (B).

Inspection
Component Inspection
1.
Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2.
Remove the ignition lock & clutch switch.
3.
Rotate the switch lever to the direction of the arrow to check the operating point (A).

Installation
1.
Install is proceds as follows.
※ How to install the ignition lock & clutch switch
(A) After inserting the switch lever (A) into the clutch pedal pin (B), pre-tighten the switch mounting bolt (C).
(B) Set the clutch switches so as to confirm that the electric current is applied to the pins ① and ③. [In case by MT]
Set the clutch switches so as to confirm that the electric current is applied to the pins ② and ④. [In case by IMT]
(C) Fix the clutch pedal to the ignition lock switch OFF/ON strokes (F).
(D) With the pedal fixed, rotate the switch clockwise and counter-clockwise to set it to a position at the transition from OFF to ON. Then, tighten the mounting bolt (C) to the specified torque.
(E) Once completing the assembly, check again that the switch is correctly operating.
※ OFF→ON stroke tolerance should be within ± 7.7 mm (0.3031 in.)

OFF → ON Position :
121.8 ± 7.7 mm (4.7953 ± 0.3031 in.) [Gasoline 1.0 T-GDI, Gasoline 1.5 MPI]
127.5 ± 7.7 mm (5.0197 ± 0.3031 in.) [Diesel 1.6 TCI]
[Intelligent Manual Transaxle Type]
Ignition lock switch pin arrangement is different. (See picture)
110.5 ± 7.7 mm (43.5 ± 0.3031 in.) [Gasoline 1.0 T-GDI, Gasoline 1.5 T-GDI / Diesel 1.6 TCI]
Tightening torque :
2.0 - 5.8 N.m (0.2 - 0.6 kgf.m, 1.4 - 4.3 lb-ft) [Manual Transaxle Type]
2.5 - 3.5 N.m (0.25 - 0.35 kgf.m, 18.1 - 25.3 lb-ft) [Intelligent Manual Transaxle Type]

    To signal a turn, push down on the lever for a left turn or up for a right turn in position (A). To signal a lane change, move the turn signal lever slightly and hold it in position (B).The lever will return to the OFF position when released or when the turn is completed.
